RRAD was honored to be retained as an early design consultant on Residence Antilia, Mumbai. The Ambani family extended this opportunity when the project was still in its beginning phases. We collaborated with Hirsch Bedner, Los Angeles and the architectural firm, Perkins & Will, Chicago.
The planning, design and construction of this distinguished "green" structure is architecturally notable, incorporating multiple large outdoor spaces into its 27 floors - or verticality - a unique and forward design.
RRAD appreciated the opportunity to assist in the concepts for her almost 400,000 sq. ft. of interior spaces and with many of the custom interior furnishings and table-wear accessories.
Little more than half-way up the impressive 27-story structure, Perkins & Will designed a two-story open space that is arguably the most impressive exterior feature in the building. It is regal, and dramatic and calming, all at the same time. The massive structural elements the impressive soffits and the twin stone gazebos, all work in concert to create a stately environment that would indeed humble any guest or foreign head of state.
Mr. Roseman spent several months working on-site amid temporary offices while the main building's construction was still being carried on. During this time Mr. Roseman worked directly with Mrs. Ambani in developing concepts for the residence's 18 primary floors of living spaces, prayer spaces, special function halls, dining rooms etc. The RRAD studio worked on these concepts largely independent of the the formally retained Hirsch-Bidnner ID firm out of Los Angeles. Mr. Roseman's concepts were extremely well-received by Mr. & Mrs. Ambani and were utilized as a conceptual starting point for the massive residence's interiors.
Formal interior design and installation was carried out by the LA based ID firm.
